We moved into our apartment in Nippori yesterday. It's a guest house, so private room with a mini fridge, and shared kitchens/bathrooms. After about two weeks of communication, where it was made clear there were two of us, the landlord tells us there is a 15000 yen charge for having an extra person. There was no warning for this whatsoever, and we weren't told til we had moved our stuff in. They were aware we had two people moving in, and as far as we knew, our price was at 68000. Our room is 7 ft across at the shortest, 9 feet across at the longest, and about 12-15 ft long.

Our neighbours are quite loud, and the walls are so thin that I could hear the music on my phone at half volume from the floor below, and down the hall.

I had an interview at a bar yesterday. It was fairly nice, five stories up in Roppongi, which is where I stayed last year. I think it went well, and I intend on going back to Roppongi tomorrow to push my photography. The only problem is I need a new flash, my old one is in pieces. I thought I could fix it, but don't have the manual dexterity.

I got lost for about 4 hours today. To be fair, I was only really lost for 2 hours, I knew where I was until about 2 hours in, and I got turned around. It wasn't that bad, a nice cool rain had started, and I got to explore. Unfortunately, as I had intended this to be a short walk, did not bring my camera. I will have to venture out again soon.

  1. That sucks but not totally surprising that the landlord tried to shaft you guys. This has happened to a few of my friends who've travelled to foreign lands.
